Words needed

Your dog should know these words before trying this activity:

Steps

  1. Attention

Cue attention before entering the distraction zone

  2. Leave It

Cue leave it as the distraction appears

  3. Heel

Cue heel to walk past in a tight position

Tips

  • Start at a distance where the dog can still think, then close the gap over sessions
  • Reward AFTER clearing the distraction, not during. The release is the reward
  • If the dog cannot disengage, you are too close

Equipment

  • 6-foot leash
  • High-value treats
