Little WingsA cozy bug-collecting game that runs on your step count — no GPS, no map to follow, no phone in your hand.
Join the Critter Collectors — the world's leading researchers of little creatures. Every step you take in the real world stirs something from the undergrowth. Lace up, head out, and let your walk do the finding. Open Little Wings to see every critter you crossed paths with.

Today's steps, and how far to the next find.
Everything you find is filed in your Field Notes.
Each entry keeps its size, habitat and diet.
Different ground turns up different species.
How it works
Walk wherever you were already going
There is no map to follow and nowhere you have to be. Little Wings reads the step count your phone is already keeping — through Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android — so the walk to the shops counts exactly as much as the nature walk you planned.

Your steps stir the undergrowth
Every step you take in the real world disturbs something small and shy on the other side. You will not see it happen and you do not need to watch for it. Put the phone in your pocket and let the walking do the work.

Come back and see who you met
Open Little Wings afterwards and the Critter Collectors will have logged every insect and oddity that crossed your path while you were out — the common, the odd, and the ones nobody has filed a report on yet.

What makes it different
It never asks where you are
Little Wings does not read your location. Not in the background, not while you walk, not ever. There is no live map burning through your battery and no record of where you have been, because the game only ever needed the number of steps.
Nothing to hold, nothing to check
The walk has already happened by the time you open the app. No routes to complete, no timers running down, and nothing that punishes you for leaving the phone in your pocket where it belongs.
Your collection follows you
Little Wings keeps your collection with your account, so changing phones does not mean starting over. Everything you have found, unlocked, and filed stays yours.
It runs on the step counter you already have
Steps come from Apple Health and HealthKit on iPhone, and Health Connect on Android, with your permission and nowhere else. Whatever pedometer your phone or Apple Watch is already using is the one the game runs on, and there is nothing extra to install.
A widget on the home screen
Today's steps and the countdown to your next find sit on your home screen, so you can see how close you are to turning something up without opening anything.
Your steps stay yours
Step data is used to advance the game and nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and it is not folded into our analytics or crash reports.
The Great Archives
The Critter Collector Guild has been filing notes on small things for a very long time. Every specimen Little Wings can turn up is in there — what it is, how big it gets, which ground it favours and the hours it keeps. The Archives are open to anyone; you do not have to be a Fellow to read them.
See the Great ArchivesQuestions
- Does Little Wings track my location?
- No. Little Wings never reads your location. It reads your step count, with your permission, from Apple Health and HealthKit on iPhone or Health Connect on Android — and that is the only thing it needs to work.
- Do I have to keep the app open while I walk?
- No. Your steps are counted by your phone whether Little Wings is open or not, so you can walk with it in your pocket and open the app when you get back.
- Will it drain my battery?
- There is no GPS and no live map running, which is what usually drains a phone during a walking game. Little Wings reads a step count your phone was already keeping.
- Is Little Wings on Android?
- Yes. Little Wings is on both the App Store and Google Play, and reads steps from Health Connect on Android.
- Does it work with an Apple Watch?
- Yes. An Apple Watch writes its steps into Apple Health, and Apple Health is where Little Wings reads them — so steps the Watch counted arrive the same as any others, with nothing extra to set up.
- Does Little Wings work offline?
- It needs a connection. Your collection lives with your account so that it can follow you between devices, and that syncing is what needs the network. Amber Lock, which has no account at all, is the one of ours that works with no signal.
- Do I need an account?
- Yes. The account is what lets your collection follow you between sessions and devices, so a new phone does not mean starting from nothing.
- Can I get my data deleted?
- Yes. Because Little Wings has an account, you can ask us to delete it and everything associated with it — email support@gnomesteadcollective.com and we will take care of it.
